Penta 900 Botanical Fungicide and Anti-Bacterial

Penta 900 Monograph

The active ingredient in Penta 900 is peppermint oil that has natural germ-killing capabilities proven to be equal to the leading traditional ingredients but is Generally Recognized as Safe (G.R.A.S.) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It is a natural mold killer and anti-bacterial agent that is comprised of five (5) ingredients.  The ingredients are safe to be used around children, pets, food service, etc.  As such, the product does not have to be registered with the EPA while at the same time, it’s simple application and proven effectiveness against all types of mold has shown it to be a vastly superior product to others currently on the market.

Penta 900 Monograph
Penta 900 – The ingredients are all regarded as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe).

Penta 900 is also different from most products on the market in that it is not a powerful oxidizer (such as with the use of chlorine products).  Oxidizers are almost uniformly harmful to humans as well as animals, plants, etc.  The application process with these can be complicated, time-consuming and require repeated applications to be effective.

Penta 900 has been used for years by industry professionals in the mold remediation services.  In addition to it being much friendlier to the environment and those handling its application, one of the main selling points has been its ease of application.  Simply wet the surface to be treated with the product, wait for 60 minutes and then wipe down the surface, spray the area again and walk away. Note:  One must remedy the source of moisture or other defect that allowed the area to become moldy to begin with or the problem may recur.

Penta 900 can be used in nursing homes, hospitals, schools, universities, health clubs, animal boarding facilities, sports facilities, food preparation facilities, or any other residential commercial or medical application where high-risk or chemically sensitive individuals may be present.

Active Ingredient:

Peppermint oil – This is the active ingredient that kills the mold and bacteria.

Inactive Ingredients:

Water – In the interest of effectiveness, this is not ordinary water.  It has been electrolyzed to carry extra electrons giving it a negative Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP)

Negative ORP – Negative Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) may not seem like something that’s important to this product until one understands that it carries with it an electric charge.  Like a liquid battery.  It is measured in millivolts so isn’t strong enough to bother us, but it certainly is to molds and bacteria.

This is something that molds and bacteria cannot “adapt” to as they can to things like antibiotics.  The negative ORP of Penta 900 is approximately minus nine hundred millivolts (-900 mv).  This is where the 900 in the Penta 900 comes from.

Sodium Aluminosilicate – This is used as an alkalizing agent.

Sodium Laurel Sulfate – This is a wetting agent so the product will uniformly coat the surface being treated.  This ingredient is found in many soap and shampoo products.

Isopropyl Alcohol – This is used to get the peppermint oil to stay in solution.

Potassium Sorbate – This is a preservative

Humic Acid – for color.

Application: As described above, simply wet the area, wait the required 60 minutes, wipe off the surface and spray again.  It is recommended that gloves are used to protect the hands when wiping off the initial application.

Certifications for anti-bacterial action:  Labs have certified Penta 900 to kill 100% of e-coli, staphylococcus Aureus, Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA),Legionella pneumophila (Legionnaires disease) in 5 to 30 minutes.

Competing Products:  Benefect Botanical Disinfectant is the only product that compares with Penta 900 but costs between 36 and 45 dollars a gallon retail.

Packaging:  The product is available in one gallon, 2.5 gallon, 5 gallon, 55 gallon drums.

Storage:  The product should be stored away from high heat or freezing temperatures.  Once opened, the product should be used within a reasonable time.

Handling: The product has an alkaline pH of 12.5 making it caustic to sensitive skin.  Gloves should be worn when applying the product.  See the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full handling instructions.

CONCLUSION:

Penta 900 is a clearly superior product.  No mixing of the product is needed prior to use.  The formula is stable well past the EPA’S 2-year requirement.  The ingredients are all regarded as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). The product has been found effective on all common molds and 4 pathogenic bacteria (continuing comprehensive testing is planned for the future).  There is no rinsing required with this product and it’s a ready-to-use, environmentally friendly formula.  All of this with ease of application and no required safety gear makes it the choice of professionals and consumers alike.
